I just wanted to write a small little something. I feel like it's been a while, and my last post was kind of a downer, so I wanted to remedy that right quick.
Here is a little update:
This week I am finishing up a 10 week grad school unit. Tomorrow is my last day. We're having a pizza party for the one class that I have been working with almost exclusively since the beginning of December. Their class starts at 11, so that's when the party is scheduled to start. I just need to figure out how I am going to carry fourteen pizzas into the middle school with only my two arms. I think I better enlist a couple of student volunteers. What do you think?
Other than that, this week still has me on my toes until all of my assignments for the unit are submitted. I should be home free by Saturday night. I am very excited for a week-long break. After that, on March 7th I will begin my second stint of student teaching at Rigby High School. I am a little bummed that I'll have about a twenty minute commute each way, but beggars can't be choosers! At least we're on the tail end of winter and the roads should be much more driver-friendly in no time.
I'm very looking forward to some time off. It will give me time to deep clean and organize some of the junk that has accumulated since I have been involved in school so much, and I hope to finally finish The Other Boleyn Girl, which I started over Christmas vacation, too!
And one more thing. I am grateful to be a busy little bee. It's good for me to have goals. I know that once this busy spell is over, I'll have a little honeymoon phase, but I will begin to crave that busyness once again. And then I will be busy again with school (BYUI) before I know it. But this time I'll go back to being the teacher instead of the student, and that is the role I prefer!
And just to top off the post--this is solely for me, sometimes you just gotta get it out--I'm grateful for:
Hot chocolate
New (unripped) bed sheets
Fresh air
Clean laundry
Early bedtimes (I'm about to fall asleep. It's time)
The students I have worked with for the past three months
A new month
and Jeff. And here's a quick story about martial bliss, just real quick. So Jeff and I were having a discussion today about action that we need to take as a couple. I was being 100% emotional about it, and true to form, Jeff was looking at it 100% logically. Obviously, emotional and logical responses to situations are like polar opposites, and so we had a disagreement. I understood his viewpoint and why it was the correct way to deal with the situation, but I could not ignore my emotional response to the same situation. So to avoid further hurt feelings and confusion, I admitted Jeff was right. Only because he was. But I was sure to add that I wish his logic was being of its own, and that if it was, I would punch it right in the face.
Happy Wednesday to all! And to all a good night!
