the run down

We're finally home!  We've been feeling like nomads for the past couple of weeks, and we've been all over the place. There really is nothing like home.

So here's a list of all the places we've been and all the things that we were able to do over our summer vacation.

Monday, July 26
We left Rexburg!
Ate breakfast at Smitty's (My Grandpa Hatch's favorite spot)
Drove to Las Vegas and spent the night in a new hotel called the Vdara (thanks Hotwire!)
Walked the strip and ate at Burger Bar

Tuesday, July 27
Used the hotel wi-fi for my grad school classes until we had to check out
Drove to Jeff's mom's house

Wednesday, July 28
Got some rest
Visited with family
Ate yummy tacos with homemade salsa
Went to LAX to catch a red-eye flight to PA
Got upset on the flight because they said they were going to play "The Last Song" with Miley Cyrus and they never did. Not cool.
Being bored while waiting in the airport
Ever since our wedding, I've really liked mentos (they were our wedding favors)

Thursday, July 29
Dad picked us up at BWI
I got to meet my sweet nephew, Joseph!
Visited with my parents and Melissa
Went to the train station
Took the train to Manhattan
Met Ryan and Jaime
Checked out the timeshare
Ate dinner at Cafeteria in Chelsea
Ate at Magnolia Bakery for dessert
The timeshare--I LOVE the wallpaper
The master suite
The view from our bedroom window
Friday, July 30
Got student rush tickets for Mary Poppins on Broadway
Took a nap (thank goodness)
Ate pizza for lunch at two different restaurants
Went shopping
Went to a pet store and played with some very cute furry friends
Ate at a yummy Italian place called Frankies
Saw Mary Poppins--dead last row, really rude ushers, and other theater-goers, but boy, does Disney put on a show.
Our first stop for lunch
Prosciutto and arugula
No this photo isn't upside down, this table set was just nailed into the ceiling above where I was sitting
Boy, I look pretty tired, huh?
Jaime and Ryan :)
Our second pizza topped with spicy sopressata
Maybe the one time during the whole trip were I look presentable

Saturday, July 31
Woke up at 8:30 when our train was leaving at 9:09 am
Unbelievably we found our seats on the train at 9:04, I still can't believe we made it--such a blessing
Joey, my bro-in-law, surprised everyone by showing up unannounced--very fun surprise
Ate Roma, a gizmo and a slice
Went swimming

Sunday, August 1

My BEAUTIFUL mother!
Wednesday, August 4
Flew back to California
Tried to get some rest

Thursday, August 5
Went to Sushi Masu in Los Angeles for an early anniversary dinner. WOW. It was the most amazing sushi I've ever had although I had to fight a gag reflex after eating uni (sea urchin)

Friday, August 6
Met Cory and Kelsey for dinner at a ramen noodle house--it was also amazing. Just a little hole-in-the-wall place in some desolate, run-down shopping center

Saturday, August 7
Jeff and I and Ryan and Jaime all did ear candles on each other. Such a weird and gross thing to do, but we tried it out and can now hear better!
Went with Ryan and Jaime to dinner and the Dodger game--We won!!
Dodger Stadium
I love going to Dodgertown!
The Nelsons showing their support

Supported Jeff's golf addiction by riding in the cart with him for 18 holes
Finally got some Panera--Turkey Bacon Bravo and asian sesame salad

Thursday, August 12
Finally made the drive home

Friday, August 13
Picked Dali up from the doggysitter's
Unpacked everything and did laundry
Making myself way too tired by blogging all this
Must try to stay awake at the cheap theater tonight. We're going to go see the Karate Kid.

WHOOSH! Luckily I have some time before the new semester starts to catch my breath.
