avoiding responsibility

Right now I should be grading papers, but I really just don't want to. So instead of doing my job, I am going to blog.

We spent this weekend in California with Jeff's family. A few highlights from the trip:
  • Donut Man, twice
  • In N Out, once
  • Sushi and japanese food, once
  • full tummy, a lot
  • new white vans slip-ons
  • lots of sunshine
  • trip to the LA flower market in the early morning
  • several games of "Slap Candy" which is actually "Slap Jack" using candy land cards. Jacqueline made this one up.

And the best part of all? Jeff's grandma's birthday party! Ethel Nelson turned 80 years old on Satuday, the 20th. Birthday parties are always nice to attend, but this one was particularly special. Out of her 21 grandchildren, all except one was able to make it. And that grandson is serving his mission, so he had a good excuse not to be there. So in attendence there were her four children and their spouses, 20 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and then of course, the married-ins, like me. And even though she isn't really my grandma, it was a very touching experience. Tears came to my eyes as we celebrated her on that day. Jeff is a big softee when it comes to his grandma. He really loves her and I love that about him. And even though this weekend was non-stop action without a minute to rest, it was all worth it to celebrate her on her birthday. It's amazing to reflect on the impact one person can have on so many.
